It’s a family affair: Kurt’s two daughters lend Dad a hand spraying their grandparents’ backyard.

In 2006, while still with MacDowell, he started spraying yards for deer, but wasn’t satisfied with the results of the commercial repellents available at the time. So he began experimenting at home with his own solutions for an organic deer repellent, using only natural ingredients.

Those early days in his basement soon bore fruit, and Kurt was ready to test his new product. Anxious but optimistic, he sprayed a customer's apple trees with his own solution, and waited. And lo and behold, the deer ceased feeding on the apple trees for well over three weeks!

He had finally proven that a safe and natural solution could deliver superior results.

As word-of-mouth quickly spread and people began seeking out "the ohDEER guy," Kurt decided to focus on his new company full-time. And with his ever-ringing phone as proof, he knew he’d made the right choice. He continued to fine tune his own brand of organic deer repellent, honing it to produce even better results. And with the rise in concern about insectborne diseases over the last several years, it was a natural fit for Kurt to branch out into tick and mosquito control, a decision that yielded similarly excellent results. The rest is ohDEER history.

As a father with two children of my own, I truly believe that offering organic all-natural deer, tick and mosquito control solutions is the only way to go.
